Trusted Contacts

A second set of eyes on your property

A Trusted Contact is someone you choose to receive the same alerts you do, so there’s always someone who can respond if you can’t.

Protect my property

What Trusted Contacts do

  • Receive alerts about your registered property
  • Help respond to an alert if you’re travelling, unwell or can’t be reached
  • Add transparency, which makes fraud and pressure harder to hide

What they can’t do

  • They have no legal rights over your property
  • They can’t make decisions on your behalf
  • They can’t sell, finance or sign for your property

Choosing your Trusted Contacts

Who to choose

Many people choose adult children, siblings, close friends, a trusted neighbour or their lawyer.

1

Someone you trust completely

They’ll see alerts about your property, so choose people you’d be comfortable sharing that with.

2

Someone who will act quickly

Pick people who check their email and phone and will follow up right away if something looks wrong.

3

Someone independent

Ideally, choose people who wouldn’t benefit from a sale or new mortgage on your property.

4

More than one person

Name at least two, ideally in different places, so someone can always respond even if one person is away.

Know someone who should see this?

Your Trusted Contacts may want the same protection for their own homes. Pass this along.

Changing your Trusted Contacts

You’re always in charge of who’s on your list

  • You choose your Trusted Contacts. Pick the people you trust most.
  • Add, remove or replace them at any time. Your Trusted Contacts can change as your life does.
  • Their permission isn’t needed. You can change your list without their consent.

To make a change, email or call 647.598.4089 and tell us what you’d like.
