1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lighthouse Registry Inc. (“Lighthouse Registry”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and discloses personal information through lighthouseregistry.com (the “Website”), including when you join our waitlist, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us.
This policy applies only to the Website. If you register for Lighthouse Title Alert, the privacy terms that form part of your Registration Agreement explain how we handle the information needed to provide that service, and they prevail over this policy for the service.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
2. Information we collect
- Waitlist and newsletter: your email address, your consent to receive our emails, and the date and time you signed up and confirmed your subscription.
- Contact form: your first and last name, email address, telephone number if you provide it, and your message.
- Email and telephone: your contact details and anything you choose to tell us.
- Technical information: when you visit the Website, our hosting and service providers automatically receive information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you request.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, passwords, banking details or government identification numbers through the Website. The Website does not use analytics or advertising tracking.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information collected through the Website to:
- send you information about Lighthouse Title Alert in accordance with your request, if you joined the waitlist;
- send our newsletter, with occasional emails about new scams and ways to protect your property, if you subscribed;
- respond to your messages and requests;
- operate, secure and improve the Website, and prevent spam and abuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
We do not sell personal information. We will not use it for a new purpose without your consent, unless the law permits or requires it.
4. Consent and our emails
By submitting a form on the Website, you consent to our collecting and using the information you provide for the purposes described in this policy.
We send waitlist and newsletter emails only with your express consent, which you give by selecting the consent box and confirming through the link in our confirmation email. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and we give effect to your request within 10 business days. You can also withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent to our emails does not affect messages we need to send you under a Registration Agreement.
5. Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run the Website:
- Wix.com hosts the Website.
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) stores waitlist and newsletter subscriptions and sends those emails.
- Formspree receives messages sent through the Contact form and forwards them to us by email.
- Google delivers the fonts used on the Website.
- Providers of embedded content: the Website may display videos and other content hosted by third parties, such as YouTube. If you play or interact with that content, its provider may set cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy.
We share only the information each provider needs to perform its service. They are required to protect it and may use it only to provide services to us.
We may also disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, for example in response to a court order, or to a successor organization as part of a sale, merger or reorganization of our business, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
6. Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers store or process information in the United States and other countries. While there, it is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
7. Cookies
The Website uses only the cookies and similar technologies needed for it to work and be delivered securely, and those set by embedded third-party content, such as videos. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the Website may not work as intended.
8. How long we keep it
- Subscriptions: we keep your email address while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a suppression list so we do not email you again, along with the record of your consent as the law requires.
- Contact messages: we keep them for two years after we receive them, and then delete them securely.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal information, and we choose service providers that maintain appropriate security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
10. Your rights
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If we cannot grant a request, we will explain why, unless the law prevents us from doing so.
11. Contact us
Please send privacy questions, requests and complaints to our Privacy Officer:

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
12. Changes to this policy
